Chapter 967

The intense flames of passion had burnt for a long time…

In the morning,

Joanna was still asleep when she awoke to Bruce kissing her.

“Stop it… Quit it… I’m so tired…” Joanna lamented. She was exhausted from last night. Her entire body was sore,

and she felt like her bones were falling apart. This jerk… his stamina was crazy.

Any woman would suffer being with him.

Smiling dotingly, Bruce continued kissing her forehead and said, “Little lazy piggy, wake up quickly. If you don’t get

up, I’ll come for you again.”

Joanna blinked her heavy eyelids and pleaded, “I can’t take it anymore. Can you just let me sleep in peace?”

“You’re not angry anymore?” Bruce chuckled as he asked.

Joanna tilted her head to the side and closed her eyes. She was so tired that all she could think about was sleep.

As for her anger, she could flare again after waking up.

Seeing that she was closing her eyes again, Bruce gently cradled her head and shook it. He said, “Wake up, no

more sleeping! It’s already half past eight! Hurry up and get up.”

Bruce put his arm around her neck and dragged her up forcefully.

“What are you doing? I’m exhausted!” Joanna said. Her body was so sore and weak that she did not want to move.

“We’re going to get our marriage certificate today. We can’t be late. I heard we have to get it before noon,” Bruce

replied.

Joanna was lost for words. Upon hearing that, she opened her eyes wide. Half of her fatigue was gone.

She stared blankly at Bruce.

“I’ve thought about it. Let’s get our marriage certificate first. We’ll talk about the rest later,” Bruce said as he

glanced earnestly at Joanna.

He had already thought it through. He would get the marriage certificate with Joanna to prevent her from being

paranoid and suspicious.

Bruce initially wanted to get the marriage certificate later because he feared that he would fail the mission. Failing

the mission would mean that he would not be able to return.

He did not want Joanna to become a widow.

Upon seeing Joanna livid, Bruce reckoned he should not worry so much.

For the sake of Joanna and the children, Bruce would definitely protect himself and return safely.

After a while, Joanna came to her senses, “What… What did you say?”

Bruce looked into Joanna’s eyes and repeated word for word, “I said, let’s go get our marriage certificate today. I

don’t want you to be paranoid and suspicious of me nor randomly accuse me of things.”

Angrily, Joanna frowned and shrieked, “Who’s being paranoid?”

Bruce pinched Joanna’s nose and teased, “Weren’t you furious last night? If we don’t get married quickly, who

knows what else you might suspect me of.” Joanna’s face tensed up. She pushed his hand away and immediately

retorted, “I’m not angry. You make it sound like I’m forcing a marriage.”

“Okay, okay! Regardless, let’s get our marriage certificate today. I forced the marriage, alright?” Bruce said as he

looked at her tenderly but helplessly.

“Hmph, you haven’t proposed yet, and I haven’t agreed to your proposal either,” Joanna retorted as she tried her

best to suppress her smile.

She did not want him to see through her thoughts.

“Dear wife, please marry me!” Bruce knelt on one knee and held Joanna’s hand like a gentleman.

“So simple? Where’s the romance? You didn’t even declare your love for me. It’s so insincere,” Joanna said

pretentiously.

She had never been an unreasonable woman, let alone flirtatious.

Now that she was being proposed to, Joanna wanted to put on a front to enjoy the romantic moment.

A warm and sincere smile appeared on Bruce’s handsome face. With an alluring voice, he said, “Dear wife, please

marry me! I, Bruce Everett, solemnly propose to you and promise I will only love you and our family in this lifetime.

I’ll give you all my money. I can even give you my life. After we get married, you’ll be my queen, and I’ll be your

captive. I promise to dote on my wife and love her. I will only listen to her. In the future, every cent I earn will be

yours, and I won’t hide any money from you.”

Joanna’s heart was filled with bliss.

Bruce always had a sharp tongue, and no kind words ever left his mouth.

Unexpectedly, his confession was so pleasant to her ears.

“Is that enough?” Bruce asked.

“Hmm, I’ll think about it,” Joanna replied. She straightened her back, hoping Bruce would shower her with sweet

nothings.

Unfortunately, things did not go as she had planned.

“Little rascal, you’re teasing me again. You don’t seem to know how powerful men

can be!” As Bruce spoke, he pounced on Joanna like a hungry wolf.

He was going to…

Joanna screamed in shock, “Ah… Stop fooling around. Hurry and get up.”

Bruce smirked, “Are you afraid now?”

“I am! I am!” Joanna was so scared that she immediately gave in.

She could not bear the consequences if she continued with her act.

“Do you love me?” Bruce asked in a dominating and overbearing tone.

If she dared to say “no”, he would definitely do something to her.

“Little rascal, if she weren’t given a hard time, she would think that she could take men for granted,” Bruce

thought.

“Of course!” Joanna replied as she hurriedly nodded and looked at him pitifully. Bruce smiled smugly, “Do you want

to marry me?”

“Yes! I want to marry you. Can you get up first? My… My bones are about to break,” Joanna exclaimed as she

guarded her chest, ready to defend herself anytime.

Of course!

Joanna’s defense was of no deterrence to Bruce at all.

Bruce could even cripple a lion if he wanted, let alone deal with her.

“Get up first! I have to change my clothes,” Joanna insisted.

Thanks to Bruce, Joanna was suffering all night. She was afraid that he would force himself on her again.

Bruce got off the bed and picked her up. ” Okay! Let’s go get married!”

Joanna’s body suddenly became light, and she cried out, “Ah! Put me down! What are you doing?”

“I’ll take you to change,” Bruce exclaimed as he hugged her and turned around excitedly. “We’re getting married! I

have a wife now!”

“Stop spinning! I’m going to throw up if this keeps up,” Joanna said as she hugged Bruce’s neck tightly, feeling dizzy.

Bruce smiled dotingly and carried her to the walk-in closet. He said, “Hurry and change. I’ll wait for you

downstairs.”

“Let me change my clothes and put on some makeup,” Joanna replied.

“Don’t go through that trouble. Quick, we’d better register our marriage before 12 noon,” Bruce responded.

“Why before 12 noon?” Joanna asked.

Bruce had a solemn expression. He said sincerely, “I heard that marriages registered before 12 noon would last for

a long time.”

Joanna was stunned. She said doubtfully, “There’s such a thing?”

“Better safe than sorry,” Bruce replied.
