Chapter 40 She Did Not Need to Know

“Who did this to you?” asked Anaya.

Bryant thought that Anaya was playing dumb. He didn‘t say anything and prepared to leave.

He turned around and saw Joshua and Lexic walking toward him.

Joshua came to pick Lexie up from the hospital. He heard that Bryant and Mia were injured and

stopped by to pay a visit to them. Unexpectedly, Anaya was here too.

Joshua greeted Bryant and then looked at Anaya.

He hesitated for a moment before asking, “Is your wound better?”

When he asked that, he regretted it.

He had decided not to think about Anaya for another second.

However, when Joshua saw Anaya again, he still involuntarily focused his attention on her

Seeing Joshua take the initiative to talk to Anaya, Lexie immediately became alert and made a worried

expression. “Anaya, are you injured?”

Anaya maintained her basic courtesy and said, “Yes.”

“Are you here to change your medicine alone?” Lexie asked with pity. “Although Joshua is quite busy

with work, he takes time to come over to accompany me. Are none of your friends willing to accompany

you?”

“I am an adult. Why do I need someone to accompany me?” Anaya smiled. “You emphasized that

Joshua came to pick you up just now. Do you feel proud that you are a home wrecker?”

Lexie did not expect Anaya to expose her thoughts so bluntly. Lexie felt a little embarrassed. “Anaya,

you misunderstood me. I did not mean that...”

“Enough. Save your tricks to fool Joshua. They won‘t work on me,” Anaya interrupted her. “Joshua and

I have divorced. I don‘t love him anymore. I am not a threat to you. Stop making me sick.”

Lexie bit her lip and did not speak, looking very aggrieved.

Anaya walked past Lexie and stopped. Anaya said in a low voice, “You made me become a trending

topic last time. I‘ll get even with you. Sit tight.”

Anaya patted Lexie on the shoulder and left.

She left smartly and didn‘t even spare Joshua a glance.

As if Joshua was just a stranger to her.

“I don‘t love him anymore...” Anaya‘s sentence lingered in his ears.

Lexic tugged at Joshua‘s sleeve. “Joshua, let‘s go.”

Joshua regained his senses and nodded.

He walked beside Bryant and asked, “How were you and Mia injured?”

Mia wanted to answer Joshua, but Bryant glanced at her. Mia shrank back and gave up.

Alfred had already told them that they had to swallow it down. They weren‘t allowed to say anything to

anyone.

They could not afford to provoke that man.

Bryant said lightly, “11 was just a dispute with our enemies. Things have been settled,”

Bryant was vengeful and had many oneinies. Joshua expected that something would happen to Bryant

sooner or later, so he didn‘t find it strange

Joshua reminded, “Keep your temper down in the future.”

“OK.”

They didn‘t part until they got to the parking lot.

“Back to the hotel?” Joshua started the engine.

Lexie responded and hinted, “I have been staying in the hotel since I went back. It has been quite

inconvenient...”

Now that Anaya and Joshua had divorced, Lexic wanted to settle her relationship with Joshua as soon

as possible.

She thought, it‘s best to move into the Maltz‘s home.

We are adults. Joshua is a man. Of course, he has needs.

Joshua said, “I‘ll find a place for you.”

Lexie thought that she was not clear enough, so she raised her hand and gently placed it on his leg.

“Joshua, I want to move to live with you.”

Joshua was a little disgusted that she touched him. He subconsciously wanted to wave her hand away,

but he held back

Joshua felt confused. He thought, I have even kissed her before. Why would I hate physical contact with her now?

We have not seen each other for three years. Sure enough. Something has changed imperceptibly.

However, anyway, I will make myself fall in love with her again.

After what happened five years ago, I swore to myself that I would only love her for the rest of my life.

My family was in crisis a year ago. I was forced to break the oath for 800 million dollars.

Now that all the obstacles have been conquered, I have to fulfill my previous oath.

Joshua made up his mind and held Lexie‘s hand. He said, “We are not married yet. It won‘t be good for

your reputation if you move to live with me. And my mother probably won‘t agree. I will find a place for

you for now, OK?”

“But...”

“Be good,” he said firmly.

Lexie bit her lower lip and nodded in agreement.

It was the office building of Prudential Group.

Martin pushed open the door to Hearst‘s office and said in a casual tone, “Hey, are you busy?”

Hearst flipped through the work documents and replied, “Yes.”

Martin sat down on the sofa casually. “Jayden told me that you had him tie up Mia and Bryant. What

happened? How

did they offend you?”

In the past few days, Samuel had been confined. Jayden was responsible for the physical work.

“They hurt Anaya.”

Martin‘s heart skipped a beat. He sat up straight and said, “Will they survive?”

Martin Knew Hearst well. Hearst liad his set way of doing things.

Hearst looked like a gentleman, but when he tortured people, he could be extremely ruthless.

“He lost a hand.”

Hearst had just returned to the country and hadn‘t held his ground in the field. What was worse, many

people were eveing Prudential Group covetously. Otherwise, he would have escalated the matter.

“Does Anaya know what you‘ve done?”

“She doesn‘t need to know.” #

Hearst thought, I would deal with these dirty things.

Martin paused for a moment before saying, “She doesn‘t know how good you are to her. Is there any

point in doing all this?”

Martin did not understand Hearst.

With Hearst‘s strength, he could have kept Anaya by his side.

But he did not

For so many years, Hearst had always been keeping an eye on Anaya, but he never interfered with her

life.

It was not until Anaya divorced that he showed up.

Hearst didn‘t answer. He said, “What are you here for today?”

Seeing that Hearst was unwilling to say more, Martin changed the topic, “My father knows that you and

I are friends. He wants me to persuade you to give him a chance. Can the project of...”

“No.”

Martin was speechless.

Martin thought, did he reject me just like that?

I don‘t want to be friends with him anymore!

There was some free time in the afternoon. Anaya called Aracely and took Sammo to the pet hospital

to trim its fur. Alter that, they would have dinner together.

Aracely‘s parents and Winston handled everything for the Tarleton family. Aracely didn‘t have to do

anything besides enjoying food and traveling. She lived very comfortably.

Anaya thought, Aracely should have had a happy life, but she met a scum in her last life.

At last, she was pregnant and died under the overpass.

Thinking of the tragic death of Aracely, Anaya felt depressed.

“Anava, why are you in a daze?”

Aracely stretched out her hand and waved it in front of Anaya‘s cyes.

Anaya came back to her senses and shook her head. “Nothing. Let‘s go.”

Sammo had undergone sterilization and seemed to have been afraid of the pet hospital. It was howling

at the door for a long time and refused to enter.

Anaya‘s shoulder was injured. She needed to avoid strenuous exercise.

Aracely tried her best to pull Sammo in.

Sammo was pulled into the room and kept howling. It looked very sad. After being trimmed, it still

looked low–spirited. Anaya hated to see Sammo suffering. She planned to trim Sammo‘s hair herself

next time.

Anaya went to the counter to pay the bill. A blond boy stood by the counter with a black cat in his arms,

talking to the staff.

He was good–looking. The handsome young man said, “Miss, I accidentally lost my phone and wallet. I

don‘t have money to pay now. Can I pay you back tomorrow? I will keep my promise.”

The staff blushed. However, she said, “I‘m really sorry. We can‘t pay on credit here. You can contact

your friend to pay for it for you. I can lend you my phone.”

“But I never remember any number...” The young man took off the ear ornament and the cross

necklace hanging on his neck. “Can I use these things as collateral?”

Those jewels looked expensive, but the staff did not take them. After all, there were many counterfeits

in the jewelry industry.

She thought, this person spent more than 3 thousand dollars in the pet hospital today. If he ran away, I could not afford to take the responsibility.
