Chapter 163 Let’s see if I’m right

They now looked quite thinner, and the former vibrant furs on their bodies were now dry and pale.

Using one of the daggers with him, Harry dug out the beast cores from the bodies of the mana beast.

If the dire wolves were still at their full power, the daggers wouldn't be able to even make a dent on their skin due to how weak the weapon was.

However, Harry had already absorbed all the mana in the beast's body, converting them to EXP, leaving not even one drop of mana left in the wolves.

Since mana was what strengthened their bodies and provided them with power, their bodies lost most of its power after Harry absorbed all the mana in it, making it a lot more weaker than it was supposed to be. To the point that even a dull bladed rank one weapon would be able to pierce through it.

Harry stared at the four beast cores in his hand with a weird expression on his face.

Each of them were quite large, with smooth surfaces. They were glowing with a dull pink hue, and without needing to use his [Mana sense], Harry could tell each of them packed a solid amount of mana.

The pink color was due to the element of dire wolves being wind, though the ones Harry defeated now were only stage two mana beasts, so they couldn't utilize their elemental abilities or traits now.

However, the dire wolves from stage five and above were known for their ferocious wind elemental abilities, coupled with their high intelligence and cooperation, they were usually very troublesome for adventurers to deal with, especially when in packs.

The beast cores looked like big smooth pebbles, except they were shining with a dull hue.

Compared to beast cores of mana beasts above the fifth stage, the beast cores of the ones below the fourth stage were usually fairly larger.

This was because the mana contained in it was still erratic, and wasn't as compressed as the one in beast cores above stage five.

Harry let out a low sigh before placing three out of the four beast cores into his storage device, leaving only one left in his palm.

A part of him wanted to absorb all the beast cores and increase his EXP, however, he knew that wouldn't be a very wise decision, more so when he still needed enough money to get a good weapon.

The ones he rented from the academy weren't sharp enough to properly cut through the hide and skin of strong stage two mana beast, so he needed to get a rank 2 or 3 weapon at least, which would of course cost a lot of money.

So he decided to only absorb one of them, and sell the other three.

The moment he thought about absorbing the beast core, a system notification appeared in front of him.

======

[Does Host want to absorb stage two beast core?]

[Yes/No]

======

'Yes.' Harry said inwardly, without needing to think much on it.

Immediately, the tabs changed and within seconds the beast core was completely absorbed by him and converted into EXP by the system.

[+10000EXP]

After Harry absorbed beast core, the pink hue that was shining around it earlier completely vanished, and the beast core became nothing more than a smooth, transparent, white 'stone'.

Harry simply dumped it in his storage device, finding no use for it anymore.

However, to his suprise, a notification suddenly appeared in front of him, causing a slight smile to appear on his face.

[Mana steal level up!]

[Skill "Mana Steal" now level 4!]

Finally, the skill leveled up to level 4, meaning he could now steal… or rather absorb mana from other Elementalists more efficiently!

But he didn't plan on stopping there, he could sense that some of his skills were also close to leveling up, and all they need was a little push.

He wasn't planning on leaving the beast forest until he managed to level up those skills.

'Host stats.'

[Stat Points: 100]

===========

This was how his stats looked now, and after all that EXP he received, he had managed to reach level 20.

The ten stat points he gained from leveling up had also helped to bring his stat points to a hundred in total, meaning he could easily increase any of his stats to a hundred if he wanted.

But still, Harry decided against distributing them for now, still planning to stack them up.

He closed the "Host Stats" tab, and the expression on his face suddenly changed into a serious one.

When he was busy activating his skills and fighting off the pack of wolves, there was something he noticed… whenever he activated any of his skills.

Since [Energy control] was active during all those times, he could sense it… a different channel of energy flowing through his body.

'I can tell this is related to the system, but there's only one way to find out.' Harry thought, before activating [Energy control] once more.

His eyes remained open, and he still kept his guard up in case of anything, since dropping his guard in a place like the beast forest would be nothing but stupid.

Immediately, he could sense it; the white flame of energy flowing within him. But since his eyes weren't close, he couldn't actually 'see' the 'flame', and could only sense it moving through his body.

He controlled the energy for a few seconds, moving it into his hands and swirling it around, to get a better 'feel' for it, before suddenly stopping.

'Rock Fists.' Harry mumbled inwardly, activating a skill, while still keeping [Energy control] active.

'Now… let's see if I'm right.' He thought.
