Chapter 161: The Student

"Father... Are you sure we should have stopped here?" Rea was wary, looking out the window, though she could see nothing but fog and tree silhouettes.

Solomon waved a hand, "Don't worry. Sometimes we even have special practice lessons here, though not in as deep a part."

Rea tapped her finger nervously but didn't bring it up again. Her emotions were acting on her, but her mind was telling her that nothing could happen when Solomon was near.

Crackle. Crackle. Crackle.

Suddenly the carriage abruptly slowed down, not because they had reached a place but because the horses didn't want to go any further.

"What the hell...?" The coachman muttered, staring in horror at the massive creature whose silhouette hid the fog.

"Agh...? Did something happen?" Solomon raised an eyebrow.

"Mr. Solomon! You've got to see this!" The coachman exclaimed as everyone felt the true fear in his voice.

Crackle.

A paw with long, sharp claws pierced the bottom of the carriage, splinters flying aside, bringing with it the chill that ran down their backs.

"Fuck!" Solomon exclaimed with a quick wave of his hand as a bright white orb appeared before him. He snapped his finger, and the orb exploded, letting out a vibrant light that blinded everyone around.

"Roooooaaaaaaarrrr!!!" There were furious screams from the monsters as the paw began to move in different directions, trying to reach someone.

Zayne kicked the door open and jumped out of the carriage, quickly getting his new sword out of the ring, which was still covered in bandages. Solomon and Rea followed him.

"Holy Shit!" The coachman ran up to them, while the monsters were blinded by the flash.

Just as the coachman jumped from the carriage, two dark-clawed paws ripped it apart, and the massive carriage was simply destroyed in seconds.

Whoooooooooooosh.

A shadow with stiff fur and three blue eyes, each looking in a different direction, jumped out from under the ground.

The monster stared intently at Zayne, turned its head eerily 360 degrees, and twisted sharply to the left, pouncing on the two horses.

"No!!!" The coachman exclaimed as he rushed forward, trying to save his faithful partners, but Solomon stopped him by holding him by the shoulder.

The coachman glanced back as Solomon shook his head, "We'd better take care of ourselves, these horses can't be saved anymore. Look."

The coachman turned around, only a few seconds had passed, but one horse was already torn apart that was lying on the ground bleeding, while the monster was devouring the second horse with its toothy jaw, gripping the flesh of the already dead animal with its claws.

"Well, it looks like I've made a serious mistake. This is the first time I've seen monsters here this aggressive during the day... Agh, I'll deal with it." Solomon sighed before pointing his hand at the monster.

A magical circle appeared in front of him from which a ray of pure energy flew out, reaching the monster almost instantly.

"Rark!!!" The monster barked, jumping up quickly as the ray flew under it, then the monster went back to eating the horse as if the most important thing to it now was food.

"Oh, he managed to dodge it. Not bad, that's the first time I've seen such a monster in this forest. Has something changed while I was away in the Mistylands?" Solomon muttered, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. He wasn't frightened or wary, Solomon looked at the whole situation like a scientist who had seen something new.

Tap.

Someone tugged Solomon by the sleeve, he turned around and saw Rea, whose face was as pale as a piece of paper.

"Hey, were you really that scared of that monster?" Solomon raised an eyebrow.

"Father... Look..." Rea, trembling, pointed toward the monster that caused the carriage to stop. The fog cleared slightly because of Solomon's spell, revealing a silhouette.

It was a massive six-legged spider with black and white stripes and many purple eyes. However, that wasn't what frightened Rea, but the fact that in its mouth, the spider was clutching the body of a young man who was dressed in a gray mantle, with a copper badge with a sword, and two wings on his chest.

Solomon's face immediately turned serious, since this was one of the students of the Zexiton Academy.

"Looks like one of the teachers decided to have a lesson here today, but... it ended badly." Solomon frowned while new silhouettes with many legs appeared in the fog, which gradually surrounded them.

Solomon's ring sparkled brightly as a white stone appeared in his hand. The crystal trembled violently as if something were trying to escape. Solomon directed some mana into the stone.

"Mr. Solomon!" An anxious voice sounded from the stone.

"Yeah, I'm listening." Solomon nodded slightly, "What's wrong? Why am I looking at a dead student right now?"

"Agh...? Mr. Solomon, are you really in the Mistylands?"

"I wanted to take a shortcut, but it looks like I'm going to have to stay here a little longer. Where are the other students? What is the situation?" Solomon said sternly.

"Head west, toward the split rock! Mrs. Kiara was supposed to give a practical lesson there today! Several teachers are rushing there as well!" The voice quickly replied.

"Fine, I'll get there as fast as I can." Solomon said before returning the stone to the ring as a long white staff with a blue crystal appeared in his hand.

Solomon confidently strode forward, with a calm gaze and a single desire to destroy those who harmed the students of the academy.

"Zayne, Rea, stand behind me. I can deal with these insects myself, I don't need your help. Moreover, it is my duty as a professor at the academy." Solomon said majestically before striking the ground with his staff.

A magical circle appeared beneath him from which a dozen electrical spheres flew out, their charge was unstable, seemingly capable of getting out of control at any moment.

"Abomination. You should have stayed here and not even dared to block my path, but you have committed the worst sin imaginable. You have harmed the students of my academy!" Solomon said menacingly as he struck his staff once more.

At the same moment, spheres like flashes ripped upward, then a thunderbolt rained down on every spider in the area that instantly destroyed them, terminating them into handfuls of ashes.

"Father!" Rea exclaimed as one of the spiders that were able to dodge came up behind Solomon.

Zayne was ready to rush forward to help Solomon, for he thought that in close quarters Solomon was weak, however, he was too inexperienced.

Crackling.

Solomon gripped his staff tightly, and simply brought it down on the spider. The force of his strike was enough to make the spider's head explode as a few drops landed on his face, his ice-cold eyes filled with disdain.

"What...?" Zayne muttered in disbelief as he held the hilt to his sword, he couldn't believe what he was seeing since Solomon didn't look strong physically at all.

Solomon swung his staff, knocking the blood away, and turned to face the three-eyed monster who was the only survivor of his attack.
