Chloe held the steering wheel with one hand and sped along the horse road. The sound system was

playing the Night Empress Aria, “The flame of revenge burned in my heart.”

She was not afraid of Joseph investigating her; rather, she was perplexed as to why he, who had been

curious about her when their marriage was ending.
